If you applied for admission, it is a good idea to check if your application is in progress.
At least, it’ll help you know whether you’re already being considered for admission by your chosen school.
We all know that waiting for admission is nerve-wracking, but it is worse when you’re not even sure if they have started processing your application or not.
Therefore, to know what is happening, follow the steps below and you’ll know if your admission is in progress or not.
How to check if your admission is in progress
To know if your admission is in progress:
-
Go to the JAMB portal
You need your phone, laptop or you go to a computer centre to do this. On whatever you use, open your web browser and go to www.jamb.gov.ng.
Make sure you have a stable internet connection to avoid interruptions.
-
Access the the JAMB e-Facility
When you get to the JAMB website, look for the JAMB e-Facility (also called the  CAPS (Candidates)), it is at the top left-hand corner. Click on it, and you’ll be taken to the login page.
You can also access the e-Facility directly by clicking here: https://efacility.jamb.gov.ng/
-
Enter your login information.
On the login page, you’ll see two spaces where you should enter your information. The first one is where you put your email address. The email address you used when you registered for JAMB.
I hope it’s still active. You’ll need it throughout your JAMB stuff and even in school.
In case you’re seeing Registration Number instead of email, don’t panic, it’s the same thing. Just put your Reg No instead of your email address.
-
Put your password
In the space for passwords, put your password, the one you created when you registered for JAMB. If you can remember it again, click on the forgotten password to recover it.
-
Click on the login
After entering your details, click on the login button and allow the page to load. Once loaded, you’ll be redirected to your dashboard.
-
Click on ‘Access my CAPS’
On your dashboard, look for and click on the CPAS option. This will take you to the JAMB Central Admission Processing System (CAPS), where you can track your admission status.
-
Check your admission status
When you click on check admission status, you’ll see one of the following messages:
“Admission in progress, check back later” – This means that your application is now being processed.
“Congratulations, You have been admitted” – You have been offered admission. Accept or reject the offer on CAPS.
“Not admitted” – Your application was unsuccessful. You need to consider other admission options.
As you can see, by following these steps, you’ll easily check if your admission is now in progress.
What if your admission is in progress?
If you checked and your admission is now in progress, you don’t need to do anything, it’s just an indication that your school has started processing your admission.
It is, however, not a guarantee that you’ll get admission.
For now, nothing is sure yet, but you have a strong chance of getting admission.
What to do if your admission status is in progress for a long time
-
You need to be patient: Sometimes, the whole admission process takes time and you just have to wait for things to be done. Wait for updates.
-
Check if your profile is complete: If your profile is not complete on the JAMB CAPS, your admission will be delayed, therefore, ensure you complete it. If your results are missing or incomplete, kindly do the needful.
-
Contact JAMB or your school: If you have the means, contact your chosen school’s admission unit to get an update.
Conclusion
Checking your admission status on JAMB CAPS is the best way to know if your admission is in progress.
If you see “Admission in Progress, Check Back Later,” it means your admission is now under review and an update will be shared once the review is complete.
