Recently, JAMB released the result of the just concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) (also called JAMB result), and it has been a pillar-to-post situation for many candidates.
While some candidates are happily celebrating their results others are surprised at what they are seeing simply because the score they expected isn’t what they got.
If you’re yet to see your result, here’s a comprehensive guide to help you check your UTME results online and via SMS.
How to check UTME result online
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) now has a more sophisticated online platform for all candidates to check their results.
To check your result:
-
Go to the JAMB e-Facility Portal:
- Open your web browser (preferably Chrome browser) and type the E-Facility URL or web link which is: https://efacility.jamb.gov.ng/CheckUTMEResults or simply click: JAMB eFacility portal.
- Once it opens, you’ll see a space to put your login details.
-
Enter your examination details:
- Input your JAMB Registration Number in the designated field.
-
View your result:
- Click on the “Check My Results” button.
- Your UTME result will be displayed on the screen, showing your scores for each subject.
Note: Before you start this, make sure that you have a strong internet connection.
If your network is slow or unstable, the portal won’t open properly.
There are other alternative ways (like the SMS method) to check your result if the online method doesn’t work for you.
Alternative method: Checking UTME results via SMS
If you experience challenges with the online portal or prefer a straightforward approach, you can check your UTME results through SMS.
To do this, you need to:
-
Compose a new SMS:
- Open your phone’s messaging app.
- Type “UTMERESULT” (without quotes).
-
Send the SMS:
- Send the message to 55019 or 66019 using the phone number you registered with during your UTME application.
- Please, make sure that you have enough airtime before you do this; the service costs approximately ₦50.
-
Receive your result:
- After sending the text, you will receive an SMS showing you your UTME scores for each subject.
Important: If you prefer this method, then, make sure that the SMS is sent from the phone number associated with your JAMB registration.
If you use a different number, you’ll get an error message.
Common issues you’ll encounter when checking your  UTME result online
When checking your result, you can get replies like:
- Incorrect registration number: If you enter the wrong registration number, you’ll get this reply. When putting your details make sure your reg number is correct.
- Network issues: When results are out, there is always high traffic on the JAMB website, which can cause delays in checking your results, always check your results at night when there is less traffic to the website.
- Unregistered phone number: If you want to use the SMS method, make sure you send the SMS from the phone number you used during registration to avoid errors.
If you encounter any other issues that you can’t resolve by yourself, then, go to any JAMB Approved centre near you.
They’ll help you resolve whatever issue you’re facing.
